In review, what we did to keep busy and keep our sanity:
MONDAY
We met good friends for lunch at one of our favorites, the local Mellow Mushroom for great pizza. It's kid-friendly, fun, loud AND has a great beer menu (if you're a beer fan like me).
TUESDAY
We went for culture for Day 2. We are very blessed to have several museums in the area (Children's Museum, Brooks Museum of Art, Pink Palace Museum to name a few.) One we had never visited was the Dixon Gallery and Gardens in the heart of Memphis. Tuesdays are "Pay What You Can" Day at the Dixon, so admission for the 5 of us was very reasonable - $10 all the cash I had. The boys perused the collection of art inside the beautiful renovated home, QUICKLY. But the real fun started outside exploring the gardens and grounds. Thankfully, Number 1 enjoyed taking pictures with his phone for his Instagram account:
WEDNESDAY
We met some friends at the Midsouth Corn Maze at the Memphis Agricenter. We spent an hour navigating the actual maze and then the kids had fun jumping on this giant, bouncy, jumpy thing while the moms chatted. We had the whole place to ourselves. At night, the maze is "haunted", but completely G-rated during the day.
THURSDAY
EXCITING OUTING TO THE ORTHODONTIST (GO Orthodontics, highly recommend them) AND LUNCH AT CHIKFILA. Long week, it totally counts as an outing.
FRIDAY
We went to see Here Comes the Boom, which I would describe as a mix between Nacho Libre and School of Rock. Handful of "grownup words" and the fighting scenes were a little violent for the littlest one. It's a good story about standing up for what you believe in and helping others with plenty of Kevin James humor.
MISCELLANEOUS FUN
Painting, Baking Fail, Pumpkin Patch
