What do you love about summer?

Love or hate the idea of all the little ones being out of school for the WHOLE ENTIRE SUMMER...It's going to be here before we know it.  My kids only have 9 full days of school left (Number 4 only 2 days left). I'm not quite mentally prepared.

Stay at Home Moms have one set of issues - Entertaining a brood all day every day in the heat of the summer can be a challenge. West Tennessee gets crazy hot by June 1.

Working Moms - Finding fun, safe day camps or day care for 8 to 10 weeks isn't easy or cheap.

Homeschool Moms - I can't imagine figuring out the balance between taking a break AND keeping the momentum going.

I was recently asked by The Motherboard what I loved about summer. You can see my response and what others look forward to this time of year, at the Ladies Home Journal's site here.

Become a Follower of our site and share what you love (or HATE) about summer in the Comments below. We will send one reader a Barnes & Noble $20 gift card.  A nice beach read might be just the thing to get through the long, hot days ahead.

Another day, another story,

Oh the joy of four children at home...ALL SUMMER LONG!!! I love that no one (usually) has to be up and out the door by 7. But I HATE that there is no rhythm to anything....every week is different. Someone has a camp or a VBS or a whatever. No week is the same schedule as the week before. I have to keep a more detailed calendar in the summer than I do during the school year.

I love the summer traditions: a long Mississippi visit at the grandparents with all the first cousins, making homemade snow cones, hanging the summer flags in the house, swinging at our secret swing, summer reading program at the public library.

And the new ones I hope to create: to-do! Teach my 6 and 9 year old to ride a bike! so all 6 of us can ride together....

I loooove long days of sun. I love June 21, the longest day of the year! I do follow here. ;)

What I love about summer is the slower pace of life where you can enjoy the simple pleasures. Visiting farmer's markets, picking strawberries, swinging on a swing in the park, lying in the grass and watching clouds and describing what each one looks like or reading a book. Summer is about spending quality time doing the things you love. Catching fire flies on a summer evening, fishing, cooking out, and sleeping in a tent in the back yard, making s’mores or your first lemonade stand.

I love spending the days out in the yard, in the baby pool/sprinkler, grilling out (even though we do that all year long), birthday parties, etc.! Also love the long days of sunshine!!
What I don't like is 80/90 degree heat with high humidity, which is what we get a lot of in the state of Indiana...

As a stay-at-home-mama to two little girls, age three and one, summer is not so different for me than the rest of the year.

However, one of the things I *love* about summer is the warmer weather so we can get outside. It's been a rough, rough winter here in the Northeast. Too much indoor time. I also love the longer days. And time in the water. My girls love, love, love water.

Of course, as a mama to two littles, I also *hate* the longer days because it can make bedtime more of a challenge.

But, I'll take that challenge!

I love that we can slow down and come and go as we please. I love the warm weather and long days and giggling heard from one of my house to the other. Aaaah, I love summer!

Be Blessed.
